hey brian, i'll tell you what i plan to do on my 57. my car is a radio delete car too. what i am going to do is, hinge the delete plate (consealed, of course) and put it on slides. that way, i can unlatch the delete plate and it will slide into a slot either above or below the actual radio. there is plenty of room in back of that dash to install a modern radio that sits far enough back in the hole to let the delete plate close all the way. do you understand what i am trying to say? not very good at directions, but the worst prob. you would have there is having to make your own brackets to secure the unit...no biggie, right? well, hope that helps, or at least gives you something to think on.
