Or, you could just look for a replacement motor and save the original for a later rebuild when you get the chance. These motors are not that hard to find (they have been used in a number of industrial applications as well). I also believe that this motor was used for a long period of time - from the late 30's/early 40's through to 1959 in cars, and up through the 70's or 80's in industrial applications. Experts on the board may correct me if I'm wrong.
If the motor is the only thing holding you back from buying the car, I'd say "go for it", you shouldn't have too much trouble finding a motor/parts.
A piece of advice: if this is your first restoration, it would be a good idea to join your local antique car club. You will probably meet somebody who can help you find parts, and there will be a huge information base from which you can benefit. Experience (even if it is other people's) is the best teacher!
