Thank you for your replies. It turns out that by tightening the glass globe I was compressing the gasket which in turn cut off the fuel flow. I "fixed: the problem by cutting some nicks in the gasket where the gas is supposed to enter with an exacto blade. Now I find that the fuel flow doesn't quite keep up with demand when the car is moving. Does it ever end?
