John Paxos is probably the guy for that question,,,however I know what you
mean.
I just bought a restored 57. I WAS able to determine it DID not have the
orig FP31 but did have a correct MOPAR replacement block (ie: P318.)
Virtually everything else is correct and it is a well done resto so it is
now mine. I was able to find out it IS a REAL FURY. If I ever bought it
and found out otherwise I'd be a mess.
Let me know how it turns out. For what its worth,,,what is your block
CASTING#.
I have made a chart of all POLYs their casting #s and corrisponding serial
#.
It is NOT scientific,,just charted as I see them.

I noticed this weekend the motor # in my 58 begins with FP31, and not
FLP as many refferences say it should have.
The car only has 98,000 original miles on it, and I would find it
highly unlikely that the motor had been swapped out once already, and
even more unlikely that it would have been swapped for another Fury
motor.
Is there any chance a FP31 motor made its way into a 58? Is there
any other documented precedent for this? It would break my heart if
it turns out this isn't really the original motor..
It is an "LA" built car BTW.
