Sort of. The A518 is the overdrive equivalent of the 727. (And the A500 is the OD version of the 904). The A518 was made only with the small block bell housing/bolt pattern. There are adapters available to mount it to a big block and I believe the adapters are priced at $400. Additionally the A518 is physically bulkier than the 727 such that the tunnel in our older cars has to be cut out and expanded for them to fit. The good news is that a simple switch mounted on the dash or wherever will activate/deactivate the OD if manual control is acceptable, where with the later electronic version, the 46RE, an aftermarket electronic controller must be added to the car. Thats what it looks like on mine. What trans do you have? I have a 1972 727. And I got there 18inch kit. When I set the tail housing in the rear were the od mounts is touching the tunnel and the tunnel is real small.
