Seems I recall reading that as side mirrors were optional in some years (1963 for example) the mirrors were often installed at dealerships, the position left up to the installer's whim. There are some tips on how to tighten up the mirror posted on the 62-65 tech page. The most simple involves using red Loctite thread sealer, a tip passed along by 62-65 mail list member.
