Re: Strut Rod wear and replacement questions

Nick,
Thanks but I don't think I need them.  Your picture showed similar to what I am seeing one my strut rods.  Where the rod drops down to the machined area there is a lip that looked to me might be from wear.  Thinking about it more the strut rod goes into a rubber bushing in the K member so under normal conditions it does have movement.  I suspect there would have to be a lot of wear on the rod to effect alignment.  I'm attaching a picture of my strut rod that has not been cleaned yet.  If anyone has comments they would be greatly appreciated.IMG_4747.JPGIMG_4748.JPG

Thanks Again
Nick

Dennis,

I have an extra set of strut rods with new Moog bushings if needed. I bought these years ago and never used them.

I have the complete suspension and steering out of my 64 Belvedere.  When I started cleaning parts I noticed that both ends of the strut rods are mushroomed from wear.  Being a 64 with unknown mileage this is probably typical wear.  Will this interfere with the alignment if I use the old strut rods?  Due to the difficulty of future replacement if needed I am planning on getting new strut rods.  Any thoughts about the adjustable ones they are selling now?  Worth the extra money for a driver car?

Thanks
