Re: How To Tell Value of '64 Street Wedge Belvedere Car

I agree. I think the value in this car is to those of us who want a ‘day two’ car and don’t want to touch an original to do that. For me low 20s as long there isn’t bondo over rust. If it has rust issues waiting underneath, then the value is in the teens for me. Significant rust, lower than that.

For a ‘day two’ car I would be putting in a ’67-68 hipo with some hidden speed parts. I am slowly building a ’64 426 Hemi. Now that would be a day-two sleeper. :-)

Nice car.  Looks like there is a dent in the right front fender in front of the wheel opening.  Great color combination, and the red interior (same as in my 64 Fury convertible) really sets off the black exterior.

Unfortunately, without the original 426 wedge it is now no longer a Street Wedge to most collectors.  The 440 helps, but a car is only original once and now it is not considered a "survivor".  Still a great car, desired by many Mopar followers (just not some "purists").

I am not an expert, but without more information, I would think low to mid-$20s for a very nice driver.

Subject: How To Tell Value of '64 Street Wedge Belvedere Car

Team,

Writing on behalf of my pa-in-law.  He has a 1964 Plymouth Belvedere, an original 426 street wedge 4-speed manual shift car, black with red interior.  It doesn't have the original engine, but he's got a fresh 440 in it, not a screamer but close to factory specs. Has had an "upper level" amateur restoration (interior all new, repainted, new front end parts, etc.) but not a perfect or show car by any means.  It runs and drives very well, I've attached a few photos.

He's 80 years old now, and is thinking about selling it - I'll be helping him since I'm faster on the computer.  But he (we) really have no idea how to go about setting a price.  I've looked at a few of the price guides & sites, and he's talked to a few local MoPar buffs here in Montana.  We've seen / heard estimates ranging from $27,000 to $46,000.

So I guess we're looking for any inputs on an approximate price range  you think the car might go for, and where the best source of credible cost data is for coming up with a starting place for an asking price.  I know this is an inexact science and prices can vary based on condition, timing, etc. but would appreciate your knowledgeable opinions.

Thanks much - Wade & Larry
