My thought/suggestion is your ’65 Coronet is such a nice-looking iconic
Mopar that you should get professional estimates from a body shop to
repair
the breach and budget to afford the repair. In the meantime, fix what is
“needed” for safety and enjoyment of the car and go cruising.

It’s important to know that installing a vinyl roof requires the
underlying surface to be smooth and free of rust.
By smooth, I mean that roof repairs, such as closing up a sunroof hole,
must return the top surface to being exactly as smooth as the original
unmodified roof. Essentialy, the roof must be OEM smooth. If you don’t do
this, any surface imperfections will telegraph through the vinyl and the
whole thing will look terrible. Installing a vinyl roof over your former
sunroof hole will NOT make the task any easier. The sheet metal repair to
the roof must be done regardless — to just as good quality as if your
intent were to paint the roof.

simplest would be if the 65 coronet came with a vinyl roof, but I
don't think they did. Did they?
