There should be two tension rods across the back. If they are there, maybe one is out of place (or your dog is sitting on the trunk lid?).
I'll take a picture if there is any need.

Subject: Trunk problem on my 65 Dodge
The trunk on my 65 Dodge sometimes just wont stay open on its own,,
I've never made an effort to try an adjustment, it seem to need more tension so that it will stay open on its own.
Have any of you guys come across this repair process and is there a simple and safe way to go about it.
