Thank you Gary and DJ. Yes, there is a lighter strip in the upper portion of the seatback, about an inch high. The existing upholstery, which I assume is original, has a "ribbed" strip of embossed vinyl overlay that appears to be sewn over the other dark vinyl. The lighter vinyl that SMS sent me is just plain vinyl, not embossed or ribbed. It may be that the lighter vinyl is meant as a replacement for the original embossed "ribbed" strip.
See the photo on the left of the 330 4-door upholstery in this link: https://www.hamtramck-historical.com/images/dealerships/DealershipDataBook/1964/64_Dodge_Styling_Models0006.jpg
The copy in this brochure states that "the interiors display a distinctive, bright-edged vulcanized overlay on the door panels that echoes the design of the overlay on the seat-back bolsters." It is that "overlay" that we are talking about, and it seems to be that the original overlay was the ribbed one we currently have in our vehicle. I wonder if i can remove that and sew it back over the new upholstery?
In the Max Wedge rebuild photos, that strip is not ribbed--maybe they could not find or reproduce that effect, so they just used plain tan vinyl.

Monitor colors vary, but on mine there is a horizontal stripe of lighter colored material on the seat backrest toward the
top of the seat. It looks much lighter than the material around it or on the seat bottom. Click on the photo in the link to
