I went the QA 1 route.  A arms just bolt in.  Modified the K member so it would work in a 62-65.  Wilwood brakes fit well.  Upgraded to dual circuit. Used 13" as not retaining stock wheels.

Do you really need to upgrade? How about just replacing the work out stuff. Upper and lower ball joints, tie rod ends, etc. Just use some good stuff like the poly graphite bushings that are readily available. 

If you don't want the drum brakes a front disc conversion is pretty easy too but it's not cheap.
