Re: Doug's Headers

One thing about the headmans. I bought the heavy duty ones they are thicker walled tubing and the tubes had to be clearanced slightly by a few things before I had them coated. The coating they put on them is not ceramic. The regular ones I replaced fit perfectly. They were old and rusty thats why I changed them. These are 450 500 dollar headers. My hemi project I will use the tti headers I dont really have a choice.

That's 451 and 452, not 462, headers

Doug 451 and 462 are both under chassis headers.

I have 64 440 and put in a 440 engine. I bought Schumacher hedders. Check out www.engine-swaps.com. pricey but went in great with no clearance issues.

I have a 65 bell 2 with a 440. I used headman headers they cant even compare to dougs or tti as far as quality but I used them so I can service my trans and clutch without dropping the headers and draining the coolant. I still have stock heads. All I have to do is remove my exhaust mufflers. Now I thought the dougs go through the fender wells at least the 2 back cylinders I could be wrong. The tti are a pain to work with. I had to deal with them on a indy 408 with blown head gaskets it was terrible. Nice stuff but you had to remove the engine to get them out. I ended up tilting the engine to get the left head off. Just stuff to think about. Your engine may need bigger then 1 3/4" primary tubes. Mine didn't. I put dougs header sidepipe combo on a 79 vet. Its not a mopar but I used there stuff and it was awesome fit great and looked great. My choice was hooker or dougs. Alot of people said hookers dont fit good any more so I went with dougs and was happy.

Subject: Doug's Headers

Hi group

I am going to be fitting a 440 in my 63 Dodge 440.  I seem to have a choice regarding headers.  Has anyone here used the Dougs D452 headers on a RB motor in the 63 B Body?  Looks like they are supposed to fit but am interested in feedback on any issues.

Thanks

Simon
