Re: 1963 SF Steering Wheel

Lyle,

Thanks for the suggestion.

I have, I've had the seats out and tried every possible way to get more leg room.  What I have now seems to be the best possible without modifying or making new seat mounts.

I thought about a couple of ways to get the seat back but just drilling new mounting holes in the floor could help a little but I would want to add more support under the bolts.  Modifying my mounts or making new ones is possible but I'm not a good fabricator and would like to keep the mounts stock.

I think a new steering wheel is the best choice, it will give me some additional leg room AND a very nice looking steering wheel.

Thanks Again
Dennis C.

Hi Dennis, Again,

Just another thought.... Have you taken advantage of all the adjustment in the seat tracks?

Hello,

The steering wheel in my 63 SF needs to be restored or replaced.  I would prefer to replace it with a smaller steering wheel.  My concern is that it is dished and I don't know which steering wheels may work without getting too close the brow over the instrument panel.

I really want a smaller wheel even though I have manual steering.  I'm not that tall with a 32 inseam but there is not much room for me to lift my leg and get to the clutch and the parking brake is worse.  The first picture is getting to the clutch, the second is for the parking brake.

Any thoughs on brand and issues with installation of an after market steering wheel would be appreciated.

Thanks
Dennis C.
