RE: Welcome new member - 1965 Plymouth Valiant, 14K miles

Bill – I hope to! The previous owner, very nice fellow, did some of the things you mentioned. Replaced the gas tank, put on new tires, etc. This car also has the radio delete, though it has the 225 six and automatic. I do plan to go back to correct 13” wheels and hubcaps. I’m thinking the dog dish would look best. Would the wheels be painted body color?

HI Bill,

Sounds like a nice find!

I ran into a car like that ~10 years ago. 64 Valiant 2 door with 9K miles on it. Had been sitting in a garage since 1969. Gas was a solid mass in the truck. Guy put a new tank in, cleaned/rebuilt the carb, and it fired right up. It had only heat, radio delete, 3 on the tree /6. Still had original bias ply tires on it. Body & interior was mint. Cool little car!

Hope you enjoy it!

Welcome new member Luray. Below is his introduction and info about his very lucky find!

I run a small farm in rural Virginia and have been collecting cars and trucks since the early 1980s. My latest acquisition is a 1965 Plymouth Valiant, odometer just over 14,000 miles. A lady in West Virginia bought the car new and drive it sparingly for over 20 years. Gave it to a lady friend who drove it even less and then parked it in a dry barn. About 7 years ago a dealer in Harrisonburg VA got hold of the car and was about to sell it when Jerry Pryor of Edinburg VA drove by and bought it off the lot. Jerry just sold it to me. The car is in excellent shape overall and I have some neat documents. Drives like new. A lucky find!
