Bob that service station never existed.It was built  ,actually on one of the producers private  property .They never told the producer and on his drive home that day he was surprised too see a service station on his property, . There was a stuff up in the filming of the service station destruction,the water tank in the final scene didn't fall so they spliced in a edited piece.Hard too spot but as a fanatic of this movie I have so much knowledge.
The criterion version of IAMMMMW (3 discs) has a great commentary on all the filming locations and stories pertaining to them .
