Re: Heater Core source

I just rebuilt my box, and it was relatively easy.
One thing that's escaping me is...do i recall correctly that 65's use a combination of 1/2" & 5/8" heater hoses? If someone can confirm i would appreciate it.

Hi Derrick,
I rebuilt my 65 Belvedere heater box (I think they may be similar) with good results. I blasted all the pieces and repainted, adjusted, and resealed the box with gaskets from Detroit Muscle (I think that's the company). I found I could "gently" blast the fiberglass damper and with a clear coat of finish it looked new. I had a local shop replace the heater core and they reused the brass baffle by soldering it on the new core. I had to replace a vacuum motor with a good used one but then changed my plans and sold the box. I went with Vintage Air because the summers are getting sooo hot lately. It was a fun project and I would not hesitate to do another heater rebuild. Good luck!

Hello All,

Im looking for a source for a new or rebuilt heater core for a non ac, 63 Plymouth sport fury.  Any thoughts?

Also any feedback from members who have replaced theirs, how awful a job is it?

I do have a rebuilt heater control valve already,  I would like to tackle the heater core during the winter months.

Thanks in advance for any input.
