Re: How Can I Tell If My Leaf Springs Are Bad?

Is the ass of the car sagging? Is the ride sloppy? The simplest thing is to just replace them instead of trying to re-arch or adding a leaf, etc. OEM springs used burlap rub pads that are likely trashed too.

I've used ESPO Springs N Things in PA and have had great luck with them www.springsnthings.com. I used a heavy duty spring set for mine and I love the ride. Get new u-bolts too. They are reasonably priced and have very good service.

Hi,
I see a lot of redoing leaf springs and sometimes adding an arch.  How can I tell if mine are worn?  What do you guys do?  Just add a new leaf or get new springs or both?  Will a truck place do that?  Near Columbus, Oh fyi.  I have a '62 Newport and a '62 300 for what it's worth.
Thank you!
