My ’62 wagon had really dim headlights/dash lights and no blinkers driving in to work yesterday. Needed a jump to get going after work from a buddy. Fired right up - got home OK - checked it - read 8 volts. Charged to just over 12V - this morning reads under 12V. So I guess the place to start is a new battery. It is a 6 year old Odyssey.
Checked the two new cars sitting, and they read around 12.5V - the ‘53 read 12.9V even after sitting a few days - it has a 5 year old Sears DieHard (AGM made by Odyssey). I guess that line will die out with Sears.
Switched from Optima to Odyssey, when Optima production went to Mexico and quality went down. Going to try Northstar this time - supposed to be the cat’s meow..........

Alternator and voltage regulator are pretty new. Running the blue P3690732 Mopar Performance voltage regulator since I am running electronic ignition. (Engine surged with standard regulator). Read yesterday online that the blue regulator needs to be grounded to avoid over charging, to sand away the powdercoat under the bolts. Sure enough the coating was pretty thick and tough, so did that last night too.
