Re: turn signal switch question

The contacts in the 1965 switches are small pieces of copper sheet that are formed around a plastic rectangle. This contact assembly is about 1/4" long by 1/8" square (but it's been awhile since I've held one in my hand). There are two of these in the switch behind the canceling cam, one above the metal post and one below. They are moved from left to right by the canceling cam, which is moved by the arm (or the snap ring on the steering wheel in the case of a cancel event).

I've had some luck in making finicky switches more reliable by removing the canceling cam and cleaning the contacts. At one point my switch was malfunctioning such that I had to hold the arm further than it's natural switched position to get both front and rear lamps to flash on that side. I switched the plastic log contacts around (moved the top one to the bottom and vice versa) and that restored the normal expected function of the switch.

The part that is attached to the wiring has the 6 leads from the wires exposed and then 2 pieces of wires intergrated into that piece of plastic.  There has to be something that is metal and moves to connect these circuits but the top cam is only plastic.  The 2 wires you were talking about .....where do they attach ?

I am working on a 65 Satellite and the turn signals are not working.  I have the proper voltage to the switch in the top of the steering column.  I can run a jumper wire from the center power source to the outer points and individually make each side work.  So all the wire is good and correct to and from the switch.

The cancelling cam is just a piece of plastic as the 67 and newer have metal tabs on the bottom that make contact when you move the level up and down.

What should there be that will make connection from the input source to send  output to the lights? Is there suppossed to be some type of metal piece between the piece with the wiring and the top cancelling cam ?
