Re: How to Remove Hydraulic Lifters - Heads On

I have done this recently on my 62 361.  Granted it only had 23000 miles. But i just used a flat pry bar and poped the lifter up far enough to get ahold of it with channel lock pliers.

Subject: How to Remove Hydraulic Lifters - Heads On

I'm intent on replacing the camshaft on my 64 Dodge 880  w/ 383 and I'd like to do it with the engine in the car and not pulling the heads off.

How difficult is it to remove the old valve lifters? One machinist I asked said it can be difficult because they get stuck with varnish over time.

I seem to recall there is a tool that will help yank them out. Has anyone on the list done this?
