I did some work with the wiring and now have everything working. The car came back life in stages, first the horn, high beam light and oil pressure light. A little more work, wipers, blower motor and still no parking or headlights. Found bad ground in the light harness, now have lights. The car had been apart for 5 years. Ready for first start soon. Also had to fix the AFB, no gas squirting out with accelerator action. All set now. Mark '64 Savoy Patrol Car
Sent from my iPhone Well as others have stated the bulkhead connector would be the first place to start then the alternator gauge to be sure it didn't fry by jumping the wire between the two posts and that's probably one or the other if not I could be the main wire to the ignition switch from the amp gauge but I doubt it let us know what it is
Eric Worked on it a while, now have power to horns, dome light, high beam dash light, oil pressure dash light when the key is turned. No headlights, wipers, blower or ingnition. Might be the bulkhead connection or wiring harness.

First start-up of rebuilt engine? If so here's some ref notes I followed when starting my 318 Poly after rebuild:
New Engine Break-In:
BRAD PENN 30W break-in oil
Prime oil pump manually.
Start and run at 1500 RPM high idle for 30 mins. Set timing. Let cool off.
First test drive: Accelerate from 30mph to 50mph and decelerate rapidly. Repeat 10 times.
First 500 miles drive normally, but not at continuous high speeds or heavy loads.
Change break-In oil at 500 miles.

I have a 383/ 727 both rebuilt, I connected the new battery and have no power to the car. No lights, ignition nothing. Checked the engine grounds, starter connection, starter relay connections nothing. I jumped the starter and the engine turns with the starter.
All parts are new but have been installed for and couple of years in the course of the rebuild. Any ideas?
