Re: DOT street and strip tires

Paul,  agreed, with normal street tires and your power, I would expect that to happen. Did you lower your tire pressure any?  Probably cannot give it full throttle till it catches traction.  Did you warm the tires any?  Spin tires some in the traction liquid compound?  A tire with softer rubber  is almost neccessary  to get any kind of traction.  I expect Rich's tires are softer than yours.  The Nitto's will be much softer than Rich's I would  expect. ...Yup, I do want to try out Pacific Junction  to at least see what ole Brutus can do....................Steve

Steve, if you plan to run it at the Pacific Jct. track you'll want the stickiest tires you can get.  With my 255 street tires it will spin them all the way through 1st gear and part way through 2nd.  Could be I'm just a crappy driver too.

Has anyone here tried the  "Nitto " brand tires ?  How you like them ?  Quality any good? ... These are somewhat lower priced than  the "name brand" ones.
I like that they  have a little more rain grooves in them.   I notice that some tires from Summit  say they are recommended for automatic transmission.  Guess they are trying to say they get too much traction  for a 4 speed driveline?.......................................MO
