If I remember right, yes the Ball and Trunion of the \6 is smaller than the  V8 counterpart, but all V8s used the same bigger Ball and Trunion  version, whether 318 or more ci. Now, I'm remembering for a TorqueFlite, but assume 4-speed is likewise.
