front suspension damage

Motors out so i am going to clean, degrease and repaint engine compartment. Yesterday i notice two little cracks in the inner fenderwell metal down below  the upper shock end.  Also a slight bulging of the metal  when compared to drivers side. I got up   under the fender and sure enough the two cracks are  near the upper control arms pivot point.  The spots are behind the u-channel shaped piece that the  UCA pivot bolts pass thru and higher up the shock strut passes thru. My guess is that the car took a hit and this was the result. I looked it all over and cant see any bending of the frame rail or anything in the suspension but something has definitely happened.
Any thoughts on what I could or should do??
