Not to offend anyone, but back in 1980 when I was working as a service writer at a Lincoln / Mercury/ AMC dealership there were obviously people bringing in their Pacers for service and they were a "different breed of cat".
Because they were designed to accept a rotary engine (or so I was told at the time) the 6 cyl. engine they ended up with was tucked under the cowl several inches. Just about everyone that came in had a leaking valve cover and it flagged for beau coup labor for what would normally be a 15 min. job.
