Re: Do I need a fuel pressure regulator?

I don't agree. 12-13 psi is excessive. Volume is more of an issue than pressure. The carb type can vary the equation though. It appears you have a Carter carb? The eddy is basically a newer Carter and 6.5psi is the max fuel pressure. I had 11psi on my dual quad 500cfm Eddy's and it ran ok for break in at rpm's above 2000 but after break in and starting to back it out of the driveway at idle speeds the carbs erupted with fuel and spewed gas all over the place. I took them apart and saw that the floats were physically bent way out of whack. I read the instructions, afterwards of course, and saw the warning about 6.5psi max. I put on a Holley fuel pressure regulator, set it at just under 6 and all was well. As I said this may not pertain to all carbs but it sure does to the Eddy and the Carter is basically that same carb.
