I believe the weatherstripping location came later when Chrysler started stamping the VIN on the car . If memory serves it was on the left side of the trunk opening.
Another location was on the parcel shelf, right side just in front of the rear window. That one was best viewed by using a mirror under the shelf. They had an area on the shelf covering that could be removed to view the VIN but it was easier and quicker with a mirror.
The locations varied by body - A, B, C. A bodies had it on the radiator support, usually covered by the antifreeze sticker. Again that one could be read with a mirror under the support.
With the SON (Shipping Order Number) used before 1968 the C (& pre-C) bodies had the number stamped on the firewall just below the heater box. Can't remember where the B bodies had it. The SON appeared on the body tag but you needed the IBM card or a broadcast sheet to tie the VIN and SON together.
