That's what the report they handed me said. I'm not sure how it all works, but I would like to keep lawyers out of it, and I don't know if they would pay more without a court proceeding. I can always ask, I guess, especially once I see a doctor about my occasional forgetfulness. They are paying a little for pain and suffering, though.
They actually paid me about twice what I thought the car was worth, so as far as that goes, I think I did OK.
Thanks for the input!

Didn't you say you got a concussion? I'm assuming that was confirmed by Hospital emergency room, or something similar? Most cases you can go for 3 times your medical expenses to start and I would push for the higher value on your car, as they don't know that it is actually only Fair condition.
They are going to try to beat you down. Hold your ground and beat them 'up' for a better settlement.

I'd be shocked if the insurance company offers me some sort of pain-and-suffering payment. I guess I should impress upon them just how important the car is to me. It's like family to me...probably kind of unhealthy, really.
Thanks for the input, everyone!

The other insurance company will offer something for pain and suffering – you don’t have to take the first offer – counter offer it..........
Part that baby out – all those little parts and pieces that easily shipped sell well on eBay. Craigs-List the bigger parts.......

Thank you all for your support and advice. I only have liability on the car, but was trying to find a policy that would allow me to use the car as my daily driver. I imagine that I'll get screwed by the insurance company, even if he has the same company that I do.
If I had the means, I'd just fix the car regardless of cost. It's not rational, but that's often how the car hobby goes. As some mentioned, our cars become like family.
After reviewing pictures of the scene, I see that there was a construction sign blocking the lane next to the other driver's lane. So, even if he still ran the light, one or both of us might have seen the other and avoided the crash. Almost never is there just one factor in an accident, and that sign was probably the second biggest one, after the other driver's idiocy.
Now I'm faced with the likelihood that I'll never see my car in my driveway again, and worse, my car will end up in a junkyard, ultimately crushed or left to rot, even with so much left to give. I'd much rather see its parts go to saving another than to see that.
It was a truly great car.
Scott
