How can we identify this engine? The valve covers did look quite different and were the old 3 bolt style.
It was a fairly common engine back in the day. My father used to convert them to Hemis and run them in his Fuel Altered roadster back in the 60s. They did VERY well with the 354 supercharged on Nitro.

The 354 poly V8 was used in the US Chrysler Windsor (2-bbl) in 1957 (C75-1) and 1958 (LC-1), and in the US Chrysler Saratoga (4-bbl) in 1957 (C75-2) and 1958 (LC-2).
In Canada the 354 poly came as a 2-bbl on the 1957 Chrysler Windsor (C75-2), 1958 Dodge Custom Royal (LD-3), 1958 DeSoto Firedome (LS-2) and 1958 Chrysler Windsor (LC-2). The Canadian LD-3 version put out 275 bhp, LC-2 was 290 bhp and LS-2 295 bhp. Everything but the carburetor on the DeSoto was shared by all three. The differences were all the work of the advertising people.
