I would say it depends on your motor, your car and your header but in my case - RB block in a '64 B with TTI headers, it was more of a slow dance of both at the same time. The header wouldn't clear the steering column and the starter, so removed the starter, then laid the header in the engine compartment sort of leaning against the inner fender well on an old blanket, then installed the starter, then attached the header to the head. Maybe it is just my setup but now you know why I hate doing it! Cue up Garth Brooks "We Dance," open a cold one, and have at it!
