And it’s an opportunity to step up to Flowkooler......... Man if that is just a 4 bolt water pump – must be easier to replace than a Poly’s water pump...... http://www.flowkoolerwaterpumps.com/store/index.php?cPath=21_37 http://www.summitracing.com/parts/bra-1679 From: 1962to1965mopars@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:1962to1965mopars@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx]
On Behalf Of JimJablonski John, to be honest, if I was in your shoes I would spend a few nights this week knocking out the job of replacing the pump. Murphy's Law says it is going to go smack in the middle of your trip. Why risk it when it will be 10x easier to
fix in your garage. It's a six pack job. To answer your original question, the weep hole keeps moisture / water from effecting the bearing. When water flows out irregularly, it typically means the seal is worn. Your situation (knocking) sounds to me like bearing wear. The weep
hole would not be a tell tale sign of that problem, in my view. This of course comes with the typical disclosure of it being shade tree experience and as such is certainly fodder for alternative opinions! Jim My water pump on my 361 is starting to develop a slight knock. When cold. There's no play in the fan. I know my old ford truck the pump had a weap hole to let you know the pump was going bad as it would leak from there. Does this pump
have that. And how long do I have before I need to change it? Going to Carlisle this weekend. I'm bringing everything if I need to change on the side of the road. Was the fan shroud a option. When would a engine have one. Thanks John Wask.....
