To add to the back spacing issue, my '65 Belvedere has a 68/69 Dana 60. I use 275/60's also but must use a 5" backspacing. 4.5" backspacing put the tires against the outer finder well.
When it had the original 8 3/4, I successfully used the 8" Ramcharger wheels with 4.5" backspacing, same
tires.

I have 275x60 15's on my 64 Savoy with a Dana from a 68 b body, I had to go to American 15x8 to get the back spacing, the 8.5 have more offset tires hit the fender, the Dana is just a tiny bit wider than the original tapered axel and with the springs re arched and the fender lips rolled the 8.5's just cleared on the old axel.
