Re: Re: Re: Hood Question

The 1963 and 1964 Plymouth "B" hoods are real real close, but they are not exactly the same.
The bottom lip of the nose is continuous all the way across on a 1963 hood.
There is an arch in the center where your hand goes in to actuate the release on the 1964 hood.
Thanks to Joe Suchy for the clarification.

As you can see even the sculpture lines in the front and center of the hood are the same. I expected the back edge of the hood at the cowl to be different but it wasn't. There is definatley a difference in the holes for trim or letters in the front of the hood though. I've found in the past that Mopar can be a master at reusing parts on different model cars. I know for sure the 73-76 Dart hood is the exact same hood used on a 69 Barracuda.

A few years ago I had a spare 63 Fury hood (sorry I no longer have it) and I saw a guy on eBay advertising a hood that he claimed would fit a 63 or 64 Plymouth. I figured he had to be wrong since the cowl and windshield are so differnt between a 63 and a 64. Just for fun I compared the spare 63 hood I had to the hood on my 64 Belvedere wagon (which I also no longer own) and was shocked to find out that other than the holes for the 64 front hood trim and 63 letters that they appear to be the same hood. It looked to me that Plymouth restyled the cowl in 64 but didn't change the front edge of the cowl.
