I had a similar experience with a younger fellow who had to drive a PB Mopar to road test it for state safety inspection. He had no idea what to do when he sat in the Mopar. LOL
That unfamiliarity may change as some of the new cars e.g., Lincoln, now offer pushbutton transmissions.
Fiat-Chrysler blew it big time by putting a rotary dial transmission shifter in the new 200 instead of reviving the Chrysler pushbutton transmission heritage.
