Re: instrument voltage regulator

The one on your firewall is for your 13.8V charging system, putting it simply to charge your battery.  The small one on the back of your instrument cluster is for regulating the voltage to your gas & temperature gauges.

Subject: instrument voltage regulator

I can't seem to find an original style voltage reducer for the instrent cluster.  Anyone know a good source?  All the parts stores, including rock auto and online stores seem to have the style that go on the back of the cluster, not the one that mounts to the firewall, as it seems I have on the dart.

I have two thoughts here.  1 spend the 50 and try to force fit the internal components int the housing of the one I have.  Or 2, gut the one I have and put a silicone 7805 vr and capacitor inside, to get the 6v output for the gas/temp guage.

Anyone dealt with this?
