Thanks Bill
Thinking about using flat tops and either thick copper, std 0.040, or steel shim head gaskets depending on the chamber size. I will c c them after I take them off to change the pistons.
I have a 2500 stall converter and 3.23 gears.
Think the Comp Big Murtha Thumper cam will give me the radical idle Im looking for along with good street manners?
The car is a copy of the 63 Dodge 330 Ramchargers
Race car that I would like to sound authentic but drive decent also.
Thanks

My factory '62 heads were specified to be 87 cc. My machine shop guys believed that the heads had not been cut, and the measurements seemed verify this, every chamber being close to that. I don't know what your repro heads are modeled after though. Although my car is originally a 13.5:1 car, I didn't want to return to that, my thinking that I would like to run a slightly smaller cam than original and less CR for street driving. I ordered Ross pistons with this in mind, discussing with them what I was doing and possible cam choices. However, I can't say how it will work because I have languished in the completion of my engine letting it fall behind other projects and daily driver repairs. As we fully sleeved the block, I need to grind (very carefully!) the valve reliefs into the sleeves, then return the block to the shop to be cleanup decked.

I am using MP repro MW heads with the bolt on rocker stands and 4 bolt VC's. Anyone know the chamber size of these heads? They were new about 10 years ago and then discontinued, not sure why.Anyway will there be a big difference in street/strip driving between the two pistons? I would like to use pump gas, maybe with a 5 gallon shot of race gas to a full tank of 92 octane. Will this be enough to run the 11.5/1 pistons?Which cam are you guys using or recommending? Will it work with either piston choice?Again, thanks in advance.Ralph HornbeckBCBOUNDSan Diego (Sandy Ego)
