Just to confirm the comments you are getting, it should idle better than that. I've got the next bigger cam, the Extreme Energy 228, and it will idle okay at 750-900 rpm.

Subject: Cam for my 440
Pulling my hair out!
I have a 440 cross ram in my 62 Belvedere making a clone 413 nostalgia straight axle car. I finally got it running with new Edebrock E Street Alum heads and Comp 23-227-4 cam.Adv Dur Int 275 Exh 287Dur @.050 231 & 237Lift .525 .525Lobe Sep 110.0It runs really strong but will not idle. I was told this was a mild cam for street and strip. It will not idle at less than 1500 rpm and I have to keep a foot on the brake and one on the gas when at a stop and in gear. I put a new 2800 stall converter in it. Do any of these things sound wrong to anyone?Being a converted mopar nut, I am really lost on how to tune this engine and my engine builder is a holley carb guy, so he is no help. I have changed the jets and metering rods and springs to no avail.I am just digging a hole at this point and need all the help I can get. Edelbrock said they could not help either.--
