I ordered standard loop carpet thru classic industries and returned it.  Just so loose and flimsy, not to mention the way it is shipped all rolled up.  The molded form takes a beating in packaging.

Going to try the Mass backed carpet.  You can order up samples here for color as well the different backing.  The Mass back is something to see.

Subject: Re: 1962 Chrysler question

I have heard from my friend overseas that he most likely means "loop" carpet is compact and the "cut pile" is long carpet.  I've only seen 4 kinds of floor coverings for the 62 Chrysler.  1 Rubber mat in two pieces, front and rear.  This was in the BASE of the Base....nobody wants this...it's like a truck.  2. Cut pile carpet...in most of the cars.  Came as one piece or two piece 3. cut pile I've seen in mostly NYers I've seen it mainly in 2 pieces but have seen 1 piece carpet.  4.  There was 1 other I've only seen it once.... two piece carpet (front and rear) but the rear went all the way to the trunk and was molded to fit the floor.  This same car had a split rear seat bottom on the passenger side so you could take out the passenger 1/3 of the seat bottom for some reason.  It was factory....I just don't know what for.

I don't remember if 2 door and 4 door carpet is the same.  I don't think it is as the door opening for the 4 doors needs wider carpet to go under the door sills plate and the 2 door doesn't have this.  I think if you put 2 door carpet in a 4 door car it won't fit in the back left to right.  But you could put a 4 door in a 2 door car, just do some trimming down.

Emne: 1962 Chrysler question

A fellow in Europe asked me this question via email. English as a second
language so I'm not sure what he meant by a "compact floor carpet". Any
thoughts?

===
"I should get to know what is the difference between 2 and 4 door compact
floor carpet?
whether the difference between the floor pan?
 My car is a 1962 Newport 4 door, and I'm buying a carpet."

Thanks,
Gary H.
