Intake Bolts

Yes, they are cast on the originals as well as the A&A repros.  Be aware that the originals had a special small tapered flat washer as well as a matching thin lock washer under the bolt head.  I've seen the washers embedded in the intake so if your intake is used have a look.

I have to share this sad cautionary tale... I took the 451 apart to check it out after 10 years of street and strip use a few years back.  I was taking the intake off before I pulled the motor when I got a phone call.  Fast forward to the following spring when we re-fired the motor... sounded great until I growled it a few times, then a sharp knock and it drops a cylinder.

I instantly got a sick feeling in my stomach - not because something had broken, but because I knew exactly what had happened.  When I got the aforementioned phone call, I was removing intake bolts.  I pulled the extension out of the hole, but not before the 5/16" hex adapter snagged on the edge of the hole and dropped into the intake.  Somehow I managed to forget that event until the very second the sharp knock started, and even with all the moving and tipping removing, installing, and storing the intake, it never made a sound.  How I didn't catch that the adapter was missing is beyond me, I just grabbed another (probably another day) and finished removing the intake.

So, much as I don't allow any distractions when lashing valves, I treat handling a crossram the same way. Whatever it is, it can wait until I'm done!  I also use electrical tape to secure the socket to the extension, just as I go back and tighten all adjuster nuts after lashing the valves, another sad story of it's own... loose adjusters and mushroom tappets are a recipe for disaster!

If you are using an original crossram intake, I think the bolt lengths are
cast into the manifold above the bolt holes on top of the manifold....if my
memory hasn't completely failed me. I believe the dimensions are in decimal
    form,

    Can anyone else confirm this?
