Re: Friday puzzlers

Yes, that is indeed the Dodge Fratzog on the passenger door panel of the black 1962 Fury convertible.  Also on the driver's door panel.

Those door panels, by the way, are from a 1962 Dodge Polara 500.  The Dart 440 used the same basic panel but with the Dart emblem instead of the Fratzog.   The Dodge Dart 440 / Polara 500 interior door trim strip started at the front of the door and swooped up to the top of the door, as you can see in the photos.

The Plymouth emblem was a vertical rectangle (almost) with the stylized Plymouth sails extending beyond the edges,  The Fury had the door trim strip as an extension of the rear door/quarter panel and sweep up to the top of the door just above the door handle.   The Plymouth emblem was just above the window regulator handle.

For 1960, Plymouth, Valiant, Dodge and Dart got new emblems with Lancer being added for 1961.  The new 1962 Polara 500 got the Fratzog.. Initially the 1962 Dart instrument panel was to have the Dart emblem in the centre circle, but all production models got the Fratzog - Dart, Polara and Canadian-built Plymouths.   You can see the original Dart instrument panel in the 1962 Dart-Polara service manual.   The new 1962 Custom 880 got the Fratzog front and rear with the Dart emblem on the C pillar.  True parts bin styling.  For 1963 all Dodges used the Fratzog.

The black Fury has the later three on each side taillamps as well as the Plymouth Sports Sweep  - although only from the front doors to the rear of the car.  It does not have the Sports Sweep on the front and uses the non-Sports Sweep wide front door / fender trim.   Plymouths with the Sports Sweep used narrow front fender trim that started at the front door and went down the front fender, around the edge of the hood, down the other side of the car onto the front door.  Canadian Plymouths with the Sportsweep trim had the side fender trim start on the front door and end at the front edge of the front fender.  No extra trim on the front edge of the hood..

Also interesting that the trunk is white and not black.
