Re: Adjusting front end suspension height

I know this is not the correct way but I have always used fender height to adj mine. 26” to 26 1/2”

My manual said the same. I then measured from the bottom of the lower control arm directly below the adjuster nut plate and found the measurement to be closer to spec. Following the manual I had the lower control arm resting on the bumper pads.

Figured it is a good idea to record before dimensions of my ’62 wagon front end before tearing into it.  Going by the service manual, is it saying to measure from the lowest point on the torsion bar adjuster nut plate??

Because measuring from the floor to there, and subtracting the measurement from the floor to the lowest point on the outer tie-rod, does not get anything close to the 1 ¾” specified.  More like 4”.....  She will be quite the low rider if I set it to 1 ¾”.

I also recorded as is measurements to the wheel well openings at the center-line of the wheels, she does list a bit to the starboard side.  Goes along with the boat like ride.  ; )

Left front:             26.5”

Right front:           26.125”

Left rear:              24.125”

Right rear:             23.75”
