My ’62 Dart has the mirror mounted on the top of the fender, inboard of the chrome. My parts car had the mirrors mounted on the doors, in line with the chrome. Different chrome was used from the factory, allowing that. I would love to have been able to go with the factory door-mounted mirrors, but filling in the holes and blending the paint on the top of the fender isn’t going to be an option right now. With my matting agent in the clear, getting a match is going to be impossible. Thankfully, my car’s a driver. So I figure in another 5 years or so, and it will have enough marks/stone chips that I just justify repainting it. With those 62 side moldings (almost like horizontal fins), I don't know how else to mount those type mirrors.
