I have wanted to attend this show for several years, and finally had the way and means to make it this year. We had a real nice drive up to Farmington, Mn.( about 7 hours) Checked into our Motel south of there as there is no motels in the little town of Farmington.. We went on up there to see how to get around and find the fairgrounds. Gates were open so we drove inside an scoped the place out. Very nice set up they have there. Lots of shade. I started getting a Mopar high! Next morning we went early enough to get a good parking place. They have trailers to shuttle people around so we hitched a ride to see where everything was located. We knew what area Mike Greglowe would be parked . Meeting Mike and seeing his Plymouth in Person was awesome. I could have spent hours talking with him and that 65 Plymouth is just fantastic. Not just show.. It GOES!! He did a little tweeking to it this winter and thinks he can break into the 9 second range this year!Cheryl was not feeling well so she found a nice shady place to sit while I went to the swap meet. OMG I have never seen a sight like it --Many spaces with nothing but Mopar parts! Right at the start I found a 750CFM Holley double pumper -- looked new and got a bargain on it. I hadn't looked at 1/4 of the swap meet and was gettimg a sore eye and vision was decreasing This was in my good eye. Went to get Cheryl and had some lunchMy eye kept getting worse with no vision and the eye was really hurting, , so we had to leave. Called my Dr. in Omaha and he said to get down there soon as we could. Another 7 hour drive, some in heavy rain. Got there at about 9 PM and by 10:30 was in the hospital emergency room prepping for surgery . They determined that I had an infection on the inside of my retina. They stuck a syringe in my eyeball and drew out fluid for testing. Then injected a big dose of anti- biotics. After some time in the recovery room they turned us loose at 2:00 AM.So this whole week we have traveled to Omaha Dr.( 250 miles round trip) every day but Thursday and Saturday. Got to go again Monday.
The good news is, it's bacterial infection instead of fungus infection and Lab tests show they had been treating it the beat way. They said they could go in there and"scrape" the inside of the retina and I would start seeing better sooner. NO THANKS!, I will see how it goes. In just the past two days I have been seeing an improvement in vision and expect in time a full recovery.Maybe Mopars in the Park next year as it is said to be one of the top 5 Mopar shows in the Nation, and I believe it.I now have a lot that I can get done on my project, and may even get it painted this Summer. .. Very close to having it self propelled. 8-) ............................Lucky MO--
