Re: conv. top pump specs.

Look for the convertible supplement to the FSM.  On my vert I run it up about half way to where its vertical and spray all pivot points with silicone, I run it up and down a couple of times and its good for the year.  Everything, pump, hoses & actuators are available on line and all the dealers seem to be talking,  because they all have the same pricing.  You will know if one of your actuators/cylinders leak, the carpet in the back will be damp.  Almost one week after I replaced my carpet the mat on the drivers side rear started to curl up.  Found the cylinder leaking, so apart it all came again.  Also verify what type of fluid is in your system.  Some use ATF and others use brake fluid.  To check the fluid level you can pull the seat back or go through the trunk.  Most of the reservoirs have a rubber plug in the end and some have a threaded one.  I fabricated a bottle to service my pump from a hand soap dispenser.  It saves you a big mess.  When ever you run your pump with a low reservoir it foams the fluid and shoots it everywhere.  Let me see if I still have it and will post a photo if you like.

Subject: conv. top pump specs.

I have a 64 Dart Convertible and the top needs help to operate all the way. Refering to my FSM there is no mention of the pump or how to check it. I would like to check the pressure output both up and down. I don't want to buy a new pump if I have a leaky cylinder. Is there a proceedure to check the system. I have a hydraulic tester but no specs. The motor works well; is there anyone who sells or rebuilds the pump only?

Thanks in advance,

Jim Walsh
