Re: 318 Poly Dipstick Tube

I assume it's just a bare block now?  If so you can drill it without worrying about the shavings so much. However you can't get a drill down to it due to space.  Maybe a long drill bit, like 12"-18"? I had the same problem and it was a Bi***.  I believe I drove it out from the bottom as you can't push them through.  I got a new tube and dipstick from my local dealer.  It was a tad different and I had to shorten and recalibrate the new dipstick.  I had a terrible time getting it back in too and actually fractured it a bit.  I wound up using J-B weld around the base.  If it happens again i'll really have fun :-(

I have replaced a couple since then on other engines with no problem at all. I hope yours is an easy one.

Got my block unloaded out of the back of my truck today and I discovered they broke my dipstick tube off in the block and didn't tell me about it...I'm a little pi$$ed!

Anyway, how do I get his thing out? I tried to collapse it in on itself but that of course did not work. Where can I get a factory replacement these days?
