The truck won't be a daily driver at this point, but I will drive it as much as I can. I have, I believe, the 727 trans that came with the motor. I got both for free so I'm already ahead in the $$ department but would like to beef it up for cheap.

Jack,
That 440 will have very low compression and probably return poor fuel
milage with little gain in performance. It depends what you want to
accomplish with your truck. The 440 can be built to any power level you
desire, but at what cost? Trans will also need to be swapped. If you need
traction set that 440 in the bed!
