i am keeping my tapered axles for now and doing a conversion so can pull the drum to work on the brakes with out the puller , like more modern. cost me $116 in parts. will chime in on the labor investment when i am done. I am planning converting the pumpkin to a sure grip some time soon . That will have to wait till funds recoup from the 440 engine install.

I swapped my '64 tapered rear 8.75 for a '68 8.75. I used my 741 third member from the '64 in the '68. it works just fine, and it's not a sure grip. So I'm not sure what you mean - unless you're referring to a difference with the drive shaft yokes?
