Re: Help?! Disc Brake Conversion with Remote Booster? (1964 300K Ram)

not sure if this would work...but......

would an offset MC adapter help with space for a dual MC or the Master cylinder adapter, four studs so you can put a late model 1985 NYer MC on it....yes it's dual. http://arengineering.com/home-page/master-cylinder-adapters/  Then run the front brake line down to your booster single line.  plug the rear line in the brass block, so now your front brakes are power.  Then run the rear line up to the dual MC sopt for the rear brakes.  I'm thinking the Master cylinder adapter, four studs, with the smaller MC will fit under the hood.  The pedal will be a little bit stiffer than normal but not too bad I'd guess as it would just be working the rears as not power.  The booster will still run the front disks as power brakes.  This would give your front brakes the little bit of presure they need to work well, and let the rears release so they don't drag, give it almost power brake feel under foot and with your proportioning valve you can control how much force goes to the rears.

It sounds like it might work, It would be something your would have to try and see.  There maybe things that would make this a bad idea that I can't think of.  But maybe something you can use or some part of it you can use.

Rear Disk Brakes isn't that bad of an idea....then your problem is solved.  It's only about $900 I think to do the rears.  You could also just not have power brakes if the new style MC will fit with that 4 bolt to 2 studs will make it fit under the hood.  I do not have power brakes, and disk in the front, drum in the rear.  It's not bad and I drive a big boat '62 Newport.

Hope this helps

"Disc brake conversion on 300K ram not typical. 1963-64 letter car brakes. Front drum to disc conversion plumbing problem. Unlike typical conversion. Master cylinder to REMOTE BOOSTER has a single tube line to remote booster. Then from remote booster single line supply only is connected to typical distribution block for 2 front and one rear supply lines. Therefore typical conversion from dual master cylinder supply to rear drum(residual pressure) and Front Disc (no residual pressure) with remote booster is not feasible? Question is then of logistically plumb?"
