Your probably right,,,,, could be the main reason that they are not
still making crossram maxwedge engines was because the intakes did not
allow that area to cool properly,,,,, those damn chrysler engineers,,,,,, oh and
by the way the pic. that I had sent was of one of my sets of factory max wedge
heads, and that is the way I received it,,,,I am not an engineer, but do believe
that if you allow hot air to travel through a pipe that it will get hotter than
if you just lay one end of it in a fire,,,,,,,,,,,,

It,s not
a good idea to cover or block this area up.You have blocked the exhaust cross
over port up,that,s great, but blocking the C shaped
heat dissipation area is bad. That area was made to get rid of
the excessive heat from the cross over port transferred to
the metal,so it would not transfer to the above head area burning the oil in
the valve cover area. The heat that get,s transferred to the by
blocking this heat exchange area will coke the oil, causing the oil to turn to
a carbon type material that brakes off and lands in the pan, then into the oil
pickup, you figure it out from there. If you want to plug it up,go a head,it,s
your motor, but since I was a employee of Ray Barton race engines,I just
might have a little bit of in sight,Mrmopartech

Yes,
Dodger and Mike are correct. . I did not know if this cavity
is essential. I really don't like it, but Dodgers pic would be OK.
Dodger can you give me more info on that pic? Paint tomorrow
after lunch when the air temp is a little warmer. Gary, I will
send some pics, but you will see a nekkid engine! no chrome or polished
aluminum at all!........................MO
